While Eskom averages
10.8% a year,
your GWA rate is fixed at 5% — locked in writing, for 15 years.

We install a complete solar system in your home. Solar becomes your primary supply — not a supplement, not a workaround. You pay a fixed rate for the energy you use. We own the system, we maintain it, and we're here for the long haul. No fine print. No surprises on your bill.

10.8%
Eskom's 10-year average annual increase Per Eskom's own published data. Some years have hit 18–25%. South Africa has a grid that was never built to serve everyone it's been asked to serve — and the bills reflect it.

Your GWA rate — written into your agreement 5% a year for 15 years. That's the ceiling, and it's locked in your contract. Not subject to what happens at Megawatt Park, fuel costs, or anyone else's infrastructure debt.

What it costs you to get started Nothing. GWA funds the hardware, does the installation, and carries the maintenance for the full 15 years. You pay only for the energy you use — from day one.
The Numbers

Watch the gap
open up.

Same starting point. Different trajectories. By Year 15, City Power at its historical average costs more than twice what you pay on GWA — and the gap widens every single year.

Against GWA's R6.53/kWh in Year 15. At 650kWh/month, that's a difference of roughly R5,800 per month in Year 15 alone — for the same electricity.

What We Do

Three things
we do well.

We work on estates across Gauteng. That's it. We're not a national call centre or a solar company that also does electrical. We know these buildings, these gates, and these people — and we intend to keep it that way.

Solar PPA · Detail

Solar as your
main supply.

A Power Purchase Agreement means GWA buys the hardware, installs it, and keeps it running. You buy the energy it produces at a fixed rate. Solar becomes what powers your home day to day — not a supplement to the grid, but a replacement for it. The grid stays connected as your fallback. You won't notice the difference, except on your bill.

01
We install everything. You pay nothing upfront.

Our qualified team installs a complete solar system at your home — panels, inverter, battery storage, metering. The hardware belongs to GWA. You carry no equipment risk, no installation cost, and no responsibility for what happens to the technology over time.

02
You pay for the energy you use. That's all.

Your consumption is metered and billed via a prepaid platform. R3.30/kWh, VAT included, all-in. No connection fees. No demand charges. No line items you have to call someone to explain.

03
5% a year. Every year. In writing.

That's the contractual ceiling for 15 years. While Eskom's bills climb faster than you can plan for — 10.8% on average over the last decade — your GWA rate moves by a fixed, agreed amount. You'll know what you're paying next year. And the year after that.

R3.30
per kWh · VAT included · locked

Your rate from day one. It goes up by 5% per year — written into your contract. Eskom's 10-year average is 10.8% per annum. That gap, compounding over 15 years, is significant.

No hardware to buy — GWA owns the system
Solar is your primary supply — the grid is your fallback
All maintenance is GWA's problem, not yours
Revenue-grade metering — what you see is what you pay
Nothing changes in your home — just switch the lights on
15-year agreement — transfers to the new owner if you sell

Someone to call
who actually comes.

A fixed monthly amount that gives you a qualified electrician on call, included labour hours every month, and someone who knows your home's wiring. Estate life means shared infrastructure, ageing DB boards, and things that eventually need attention. We'd rather sort it before it becomes a problem at 7pm on a Friday.

About Gridworks Atelier

A Joburg business.
Here for the long haul.

We're a Joburg electrical business. We work on estates across Gauteng — wiring, maintenance, solar. We know these buildings, we know estate life, and we know what it means when the power goes out at 6pm on a Wednesday.

South Africa has a grid that was never built to serve everyone it's been asked to serve. The result is a system that punishes the people connected to it — with outages, with bills that climb faster than you can handle, and with no real alternative. Until now.

We built GWA to give estate homeowners a proper way out. Not a workaround. Your own supply. Your own rate. Locked down for 15 years. We're not going anywhere.

"We've got you. Always."

I
Estates only

We don't try to be everything to everyone. We work on residential estates in Gauteng. That focus is the reason we're good at it.

II
Our team. Not a subcontractor.

Every job — installation, maintenance, fault call — is done by our own qualified, registered electricians. You'll see the same faces. That's intentional.

III
Fifteen years is a long time

We know that. A PPA is not a transaction — it's a relationship. GWA is structured and funded to be here for the full term, and then some. We don't take that lightly.

IV
We work well with estate managers

We operate within HOA structures every day. One point of contact, proper documentation, and no drama. Estate managers tend to keep working with us.

Common Questions

Things people
ask us.

Straight answers. If something isn't covered here, call us.

What happens at the end of 15 years?
The agreement expires. At that point GWA offers a renewal — a brand new system installed, new 15-year term at the prevailing rate. You're not locked in to renew. If you choose not to, the equipment is removed at our cost.
What if I sell my house?
The PPA transfers to the new owner via a Deed of Assignment. A buyer inheriting a below-market energy rate is inheriting genuine financial value — it's a selling point, not a liability.
What if the system breaks down?
It's our equipment. Maintenance and repairs are our problem for the full 15 years. You call us, we fix it. No call-out fees, no parts invoices, no arguing about whose fault it is.
Do I still need Eskom or City Power?
Yes — you stay connected to the grid as your fallback for exceptional demand. But solar becomes your primary supply. Most months the grid barely features. You won't notice the difference except on your bill.
Is my whole house covered?
The system is sized to your actual load. We assess your consumption before installation and size accordingly. We don't install undersized systems — that's not good for anyone.
What if GWA closes down?
The equipment sits on your property — you use it regardless. GWA is structured and funded for the long term. A 15-year commitment is one we take seriously, and our capital structure reflects that.
