We're not selling you solar.
We're selling you electricity.
Starting cheaper. Climbing slower.

GWA installs a complete solar and battery system in your home — panels, inverter, battery, metering. We own it, we maintain it, we fix it when it breaks. You do one thing: pay for the electricity you use. Starting at R3.30/kWh, with a fixed 5% annual escalation locked in writing for 15 years.

You've seen solar offers before. This isn't one of them.
Not backup power, not rent-to-own, not a loan We don't sell you a battery for load shedding. You'll never own this equipment, and you'll never own its problems — no instalments, no credit application, nothing on your credit record.
An alternative supply of electricity GWA installs a complete solar and battery system at your home at zero cost to you. We own every component. Maintenance, repairs, and performance are our responsibility for the full 15-year term — built into your rate, never billed separately.

What it costs you to get started Nothing. Your only obligation is the electricity you actually use — starting at R3.30/kWh, escalating at a fixed 5% a year, locked for 15 years. Your municipal account stays exactly as it is.

Eskom's rate has climbed 10.8% a year on average. GWA's is fixed at 5%, in writing, for 15 years. Watch the gap.

Eskom Direct: Homepower 4 tariff, Eskom Schedule of Standard Prices, effective 1 April 2026. City Power: Residential Prepaid High, City of Johannesburg FY2025/26 tariffs. Ekurhuleni: Tariff B (Residential), Schedule 2 Electricity Tariffs 2025/26. All figures at 650kWh/month. Escalation projections use Eskom's 10-year average (10.8% p.a.) against GWA's contractual 5%. Projections are illustrative — actual future tariffs may differ.
What We Do

Two things.
Done properly.

A solar-powered electricity supply for your home, and the electrical work to back it up. That's the whole business.

Solar PPA · Detail

Solar as your
main supply.

A Power Purchase Agreement means GWA buys the hardware, installs it, and keeps it running. You buy the energy it produces at a fixed rate. Solar becomes what powers your home day to day — not a supplement to the grid, but a replacement for it. The grid stays connected as your fallback. You won't notice the difference, except on your bill.

01
We install everything. You pay nothing upfront.

Our qualified team installs a complete solar system at your home — panels, inverter, battery storage, metering. The hardware belongs to GWA. You carry no equipment risk, no installation cost, and no responsibility for what happens to the technology over time.

02
You pay for the energy you use. That's all.

Your consumption is metered and billed via a prepaid platform. R3.30/kWh, VAT included, all-in. No connection fees. No demand charges. No line items you have to call someone to explain.

03
5% a year. Every year. In writing.

That's the contractual ceiling for 15 years. While Eskom's bills climb faster than you can plan for — 10.8% on average over the last decade — your GWA rate moves by a fixed, agreed amount. You'll know what you're paying next year. And the year after that.

R3.30
per kWh · VAT included · starting rate

Your rate from day one. It goes up by 5% per year — a fixed escalation, written into your contract and locked for 15 years. Eskom's 10-year average is 10.8% per annum.

No hardware to buy — GWA owns the system
Solar is your primary supply — the grid is your fallback
All maintenance is GWA's problem, not yours
Revenue-grade metering — what you see is what you pay
Nothing changes in your home — just switch the lights on
15-year agreement — transfers to the new owner if you sell
Whose Problem Is What

We carry six things.
You carry one.

GWA carries
  • The equipment
  • The installation
  • The maintenance
  • The repairs
  • The performance
  • The replacement at end of term
You carry
  • The electricity you use. Per kWh. That's it.

If it breaks, you call us and we fix it. No call-out fees, no parts invoices, no debate about whose fault it is. It's our system — it's our problem.

About Gridworks Atelier

A Joburg business.
Here for the long haul.

We're a Joburg electrical and energy business, working across Gauteng. We know what it means when the power goes out at 6pm on a Wednesday — and we know what your bill looks like the morning after.

South Africa has a grid that was never built to serve everyone it's been asked to serve. The result is a system that punishes the people connected to it — with outages, with bills that climb faster than you can handle, and with no real alternative. Until now.

We built GWA to give Gauteng homeowners a proper way out. Not a workaround. Your own supply, at a fixed 5% annual escalation, locked in writing for 15 years. We're not going anywhere.

"We've got you. Always."

I
Two things. Not everything.

We don't try to be everything to everyone. Solar PPAs and electrical work. That focus is the reason we're good at both.

II
Our team. Not a subcontractor.

Every job — installation, maintenance, fault call — is done by our own qualified team. You'll see the same faces. That's intentional.

III
Fifteen years is a long time

We know that. A PPA is not a transaction — it's a relationship. GWA is structured and funded to be here for the full term, and then some. We don't take that lightly.

IV
Straightforward, every time

One point of contact, proper documentation, and no drama. If something needs sorting, you'll know exactly who to call.

Common Questions

Things people
ask us.

Straight answers. If something isn't covered here, call us.

So I never own the panels?
Correct — and you never own the problems either. No maintenance bills, no failed inverter at your cost, no degraded battery to replace in year nine. Ownership of solar equipment is only a benefit if you enjoy paying for repairs.
Is this a loan or a credit agreement?
No. There's no credit application, no debt, and nothing on your credit record. You're buying electricity, not financing hardware.
What's the catch?
The honest answer: the term. It's a 15-year agreement, because that's what makes zero-upfront possible. In exchange you get a rate that starts lower than what you're paying and escalates at less than half the grid's historical pace. If you sell your home, the agreement transfers to the buyer.
What if I sell my house?
The PPA transfers to the new owner via a Deed of Assignment. A buyer inheriting a below-market electricity rate with a fixed escalation is inheriting real financial value — it's a selling point, not a liability.
What happens at the end of 15 years?
The agreement expires. GWA offers a renewal — a brand-new system, new term, prevailing rate. You're not obliged to renew. If you don't, we remove the equipment at our cost.
What if the system breaks down?
It's our equipment; it's our problem, for the full term. Built into your rate — never billed separately.
Do I still need my municipal connection?
Your municipal account stays open and untouched — nothing about your relationship with your utility changes. Our system supplies your home independently. Most months, your old supply barely features in your life.
What if GWA closes down?
The equipment is on your property, supplying your home — it doesn't stop working. And a 15-year commitment is the entire foundation of our business model; we're structured and funded for the full term.
